Profile: After
graduating from University I was successful in my application for the Xansa
(formerly F.I. Group) Graduate Programme and began my career in IT in September
1997.
Working for Xansa between 1997 and 2002 I worked on 3 projects, one with
British Airways and two with EDF Energy (formerly London Electricity). As well as improving my technical and
personal skills these projects set the foundations for where I am today and
gave me the confidence to make the rapid progress I have since joining EDF
Energy as an employee.
My final Xansa project with EDF Energy (June 1999) was on the GAS IT support
desk. The role began as a limited one
but I was able to progress the role in to one which included development
work. EDF Energy then signed a new
contract for me as an individual assignment and another contract for another
Xansa employee to manage the support calls.
In 2002 the opportunity to progress my career arose by becoming an
employee of EDF Energy.
After joining EDF Energy in June 2002 I became involved in out of hours support
for a large batch which originally involved billing, direct debit and reminders
runs for the domestic gas portfolio. The
batch has since evolved with the company and the industry and I am still
jointly responsible for its support and maintenance. I have worked on many developments for many
applications and been involved in industry and company projects including 3
major projects in which I occupied a key role.
I am a valued member of staff and always looking for opportunities to progress
my career. I am able to exercise a
variety of skills, being involved in development, support, and work stream
management. I have been heavily involved
in a number of large, high profile projects and as a result I communicate
effectively with colleagues, various business groups and the users.
I have used the projects I have worked on along with training to consolidate my
technical and analytical skills. I have
a good working knowledge of Oracle SQL, PL/SQL and the Unix/Oracle
environment. I excel in Unix Shell
Scripting. These skills are supported by
a good all round technical knowledge. I
am always looking for the opportunity to develop my technical skills, analysis
skills and my business knowledge.
